I fear Ellie's acceptance and participation in stereotypes, but I fear even more her future resentment (she's only three now so hopefully that won't happen too soon) toward me for presuming I know what independence and happiness mean for her. I'm not even sure what the process of "finding oneself" means; I only attempt to set up conditions that give her as many choices for "self" discovery as possible.
